Welcome to Indoor Rowing at Nottingham Rowing Club
Go Row Indoor is a new kind of exercise class that caters for people of all ages and levels of fitness. Similar to spin classes but using rowing machines, indoor rowing is a total workout that is fun, simple to learn, low impact and minute-for-minute burns more calories than almost any other exercise. Classes last 45 minutes and are run by our indoor rowing trainers who will lead you through the technique, giving coaching and advice.
It’s a great way to get fit, lose weight, make friends and have fun.
It’s an ideal exercise for you if you have been less active for a while due to injury or health issues as the intensity level can be adapted individually.
If you fancy having a go on the water, indoor sessions are a really good way to start – the instructors use the same terminology as is used on the water and the basic movement is the same – without the chance of getting wet!
For expectant / new mums
We are running a weekly session aimed exclusively for expecting / new mums.
Exercising, within your comfort levels, can be a good workout when pregnant and can support you through all three trimesters.
Rowing opens the chest, strengthens the upper back, and stabilizes the core, which promotes good posture which can be beneficial as your breasts and bump grow. Rowing is a low-impact resistance workout which provides strength-based joint stability.
NHS advice states that:
Regular activity can relax you, keep you fit and help you feel more energetic. It can also help your body recover after childbirth and may help prevent postnatal depression.
As a bonus, rowing gives you all the benefits of an aerobic workout, but it’s seated, so it provides your ankles, knees, hips, and lower back with sweet, sweet relief you’ll be grateful for closer to your due date. Rowing machines allow you to dial back resistance as needed and modify the intensity of your workout without sacrificing effectiveness.
Join like-minded women in a safe and fun environment for a great workout and chance to socialise, and we welcome you to bring your baby along!
Please ensure you check with a medical professional before participating in any exercise to ensure it is appropriate.
