The two Trentside clubs think they have raised over £22,000 in total from their charity row. The Nottingham Rowing Club set off at Noon on Friday 3rd November in the octuple scull. The average age of the crew was over 70 years. Every two hours the crew was changed. Some members did more than one session. Special mention should be made off Richard Willian who realised that the 2am to 4am shift on Friday night was missing, he phoned Richard Pickup in the middle of the night to do the shift with him. They got caught in the rain storm so they came back to the club soaked. The rain lasted right through until 9am Saturday morning. However, the crews were not deterred. Every slot was filled right through until Sunday lunch time. The prime objection was achieved and the fund-raising target excelled.

Forest were playing at Home on Saturday whilst the Junior section were on the water and the club had several “buckets” out collecting from the fans. This raised £1100 for the charities, however the club has agreed to give all this money to Cancer Research.

Saturday was much calmer with clear skies with the Beaver Moon on full show. Nottingham & Union joined in the fun starting at 6pm and finishing midnight with their Junior section. They boated 6 eights over that time and think they raised over £4000 of the total.

Dawn Patrol on Sunday morning was the club’s mixed eight with the Club President on board. Tony said “The dawn was beautiful and made the whole experience a wow moment”

Back at the ranch Keith Atkinson covered 50,000 metres on the ergometer taking him 7 hours as he is unable to row due to his MS.

The last crew out were the club’s elder statesmen in a quadruple scull. The total age of the four lads was 316 years. They were joined by the Nottingham Trent University octuple. Both crews crossed the line at High Noon on Sunday
